Robbers hijack truck, steal cell phones worth Rs 6 crores

An unidentified mob hijacked the truck in an isolated area. The group thrashed the lorry driver and his assistant and stole mobile phones worth Rs 6 crores from the lorry. Some people, who found the injured lorry driver and the assistant, informed the Kolar police.

Krishnagiri: A gang of robbers highjacked a truck full of mobile phones near the Karnataka state border. The container lorry was carrying mobile phones worth Rs 6 crores. The truck belonged to a cell phone manufacturing company in Kanchipuram and was heading towards Kolar in Karnataka. The lorry was passing through Hogur next to Bhagalpur near Devaraya Samudra of the Karnataka state border.

An unidentified mob hijacked the truck in an isolated area. The group thrashed the lorry driver and his assistant and stole huge number of mobile phones from the lorry. Some people, who found the injured lorry driver and the assistant, informed the Kolar police.

The police is now investigating all the vehicles that passed through the area at the time of the lorry hijacking.

In October last year, a lorry driver carrying 15 crore worth of mobile phones was attacked and cell phones were robbed by a gang in the northern state near Choolagiri in Krishnagiri district. Hosur police arrested 10 robbers who had been camping in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh for about a month.

The same gang looted several crores worth of mobile phones in various places in Andhra Pradesh. As similar robberies are still taking place, the Karnataka State Police are investigating the possibility that the same Northern State gang may also be involved in this cell phone robbery.
