Bengaluru: After former Karnataka deputy chief minister G Parameshwara's confidante Ramesh was found hanging from a tree, the I-T department on Saturday said that neither was he covered in the raids, nor was his statement recorded.
According to reports, Ramesh allegedly committed suicide in Bengaluru today, days after income-tax sleuths raided the residence, office and education institutions of the former deputy chief minister.
However, the I-T department in a statement said that though Ramesh was present at Parameshwara's residence throughout the search proceedings, neither was a search done at Ramesh's residence, nor his statement was recorded.
Ramesh was found hanging from a tree near the Sports Authority of India grounds today morning, the police said. He hailed from Mellehalli in Ramanagar. He started his stint with Congress as a typist and became close to Parameshwara.
Lamenting the death, Parameshwara said he had told Ramesh to be courageous and face the situation boldly.
"Don't know why he committed suicide. This morning also, I spoke to him and told him to stay bold," Parameshwara told reporters. Parameshwara, who had served as the Congress state president visited the place where his confidante allegedly committed suicide.
