Bengaluru: Multi-lingual actor Prakash Raj, who is contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha from Bangalore Central as an independent candidate on Tuesday, said politicians are resorting to polarisation and buying votes as a part of their poll strategy.
In an exclusive interview to ETV Bharat, the actor-turned-politician said, "Today, polarising and buying votes is the strategy of politicians. My strategy is to focus on issues."
He further said that none of the policies being made today are citizen-friendly as it is mere vote bank politics.
"We need to realise that the candidates who get elected with lakhs of votes, turn into just one vote for a political party to survive. We need voices in the Parliament because it is the spirit of democracy," he added.
On being asked whether he would join a national 'mahagathbandhan', he said that the idea of national parties is proving to be ineffective today.
"We are forever in denial mode and need to understand that national parties are not working today. Due to their selfish interest to survive, they pick up only certain national or state issues," he said.
