Panic in Hubbali after leak from cooking gas pipeline

People rushed out of their homes in panic after cooking gas leaked from a pipeline in Karnataka's Hubbali. Firefighters were rushed to the spot to control the leakage.

Hubbali (Karnataka): Panic ensued at a residential area in Karnataka's Hubbali after a leak from a gas pipeline on Monday.

According to reports, the leak happened at the city's Navanagar area, following which locals rushed out of their homes in a state of panic.

According to the locals, gas leaked out of the pipeline which supplies cooking gas to homes in the area. Locals said that the leak occurred during road construction work in the area. The video of the leak is going viral on social media.

Meanwhile, firefighters were rushed to the spot and are currently engaged in controlling the leakage.

Earlier in May this year, at least ten people were reported dead and over 100 hospitalised after styrene gas leaked at a polymer plant in Visakhapatnam.

Following the incident, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had asked managements of industries in the state to ensure that all safety measures are in place.
