Bengaluru violence: NIA conducts searches in multiple locations

National Investigation Agency on Saturday conducted searches at multiple locations in Karnataka in DJ Halli and KG Halli police station attack cases. NIA conducted simultaneous searches at seven locations in Bengaluru City, Karnataka. Searches were conducted at premises of seven charge sheeted accused who are at large.

Bengaluru (Karnataka): National Investigation Agency on Saturday conducted searches at multiple locations in Karnataka in DJ Halli and KG Halli police station attack cases. NIA conducted simultaneous searches at seven locations in Bengaluru City, Karnataka. Searches were conducted at premises of seven accused in these cases to trace their whereabouts as they are absconding.

The two cases were originally registered as FIR no.195/2020 and FIR no.229/2020 of DJ Halli and KG Halli police stations respectively pertaining to an incident on Aug. 11, 2020 when the mob, protesting against the alleged derogatory social media (Facebook) post about Prophet Mohammed by one Naveen, had turned violent and targeted the police stations. The mob had attacked the police personnel and also burnt police vehicles and damaged government and private properties in and around the two police stations.

NIA had re-registered the cases and filed charge sheet against 109 and 138 accused persons in these cases respectively. During the searches various incriminating documents and electronic devices were seized from the premises of absconding accused. Further investigation is on.
