Coimbatore: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 20 locations across Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in Edakkara case pertaining to a conspiracy by CPI members for conducting a training camp, arms training, flag hoisting at the CPI formation day celebrations on September 16 in Nilambur forest area of Kerala.
Earlier, the NIA personnel raided the residence of persons linked to the Maoists in three States i.e; Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. As part of this, the search was being conducted at three locations in Coimbatore. It may be recalled that two years ago, Kerala police arrested Dinesh, a doctor, and Danish, who had been living in the Puliyakulam area of Coimbatore, for their alleged support to Maoists. On a tip-off, the NIA officials conducted searches on their residences on Tuesday. A similar raid was carried out on one Santosh's home in Pollachi, however, Santosh was not arrested.
