Bengaluru: Over the past two weeks, Covid cases in Karnataka were on decline. However, now there has been a sudden spike in Covid cases in the state. Keeping in view of the new developments, the Karnataka government has decided to make it mandatory to have negative RT-PCR test reports to enter the state from Kerala and Maharashtra.
Previously, those who received the first dose of Covid vaccines were exempted from bringing a negative RT-PCR report. But now, everyone who wants to come to the state, including those who received the vaccine, must have a negative RT-PCR test report before 72-hours of their arrival in Karnataka, informed the Health Department Commissioner Triloka Chandra to the media.

Experts have suggested that the Covid cases are on the rise in the neighbouring states, and therefore people travelling to Karnataka during the festivals need to be restricted. On this issue, Commissioner Triloka Chandra said that strict Covid rules should be followed in places of worship. If the number of Covid cases increased in the next few days, the Task Force Committee will be consulted and tough rules will be implemented. He added that controlling the third wave was in the hands of the people. People should wear masks and maintain social distance.
