Mumbai rains causing flood-like situation in Karnataka

As Mumbai continues to be battered by heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds, the water level in major dams and reservoirs has been on the rise. However, the release of excessive flood water is filling up Kaveri river thereby affecting the Northern Karnataka districts of Belgavi and Bagalkot.

Chikkodi: Maharashtra has been reeling under heavy rains and continued to release water into the Krishna river thereby, creating a flood-like situation in Karnataka's Belgavi and Bagalkot.

According to reports, the Chikkodi region in the Belgavi district remains the worst affected and the water levels continued to rise, affecting local residents.

It is reported that Maharashtra released 1.9 lakh cusecs of water from its five dams leading to an increase in the water level, submerging acres of agricultural land in this district of Northern Karnataka.

District Collector SB Bommanahalli visited these villages and inspected the flood situation.

The administration is also looking to ferry people from unsafe zones and NDRF teams along with Indian Army have been deployed for the rescue operation.
