Mangaluru (Karnataka): A Mangaluru based Ice Cream company has come out with a new concept called 'I-Thali', an ice cream platter just like the usual 'Thali' served with a variety of food items. Served on banana leaf-shaped plates, the ice cream platter gives a meal feel. The best ice creams of the company are served on this 'I-Thali'.
The items on the platter include Butterscotch, strawberry, Arabian Delight, Black Currant, Vanilla ice cream with carrot halwa, Ice Pizza and Mazipan ice cream designed like a paan. The idea is to give a meal like a feel, said Mukund Kamath, owner of the Ice cream company.
Ideal Ice Cream is a popular brand in Mangaluru and they have introduced a range of products in the past.
Explaining the concept, Kamath said that they have been brainstorming for a product idea at home and the concept of I-Thali struck them. Once the idea was in hand, it hardly took five minutes to design the product, he said. White ice cream like Vannila was taken for the rice, carrot halwa on it is like curry and other premier items like Black Currant and Arabian Delight have become like side items on a platter, he explained.
One of their friends posted the picture of the concept on FaceBook and it became viral. "We have started receiving calls and there is waiting at the tables for the product when we introduced it yesterday", he mentioned.
More than 100 I-Thalis have been sold on the first day and there is a good demand for the product, he added.
