Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a 22-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in a river in Chitradurga district of Karnataka, police said.
The incident came to light on Friday after the dead body was found floating in the river.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Pawan, a resident of Hassan district, was suffering from depression. Before jumping off a fort into the river he recorded a video and shared in his Whatsapp status.
In the video, he can be seen saying that he was committing suicide because he had nobody in his life who can care him.
After watching the video Pawan's friend searched for him but failed.
According to his friends, the deceased often use to discuss his suicide plans with them out of depression.
Police said that the deceased was daily wage labour and use to earn his living by doing odd jobs.
"There is no information about any of his relatives," police added.
His friend has asked the police for his body to perform his last rites.
A case has been registered at Chitradurga Fort police station and an investigation is underway.
