WATCH: Man dressed as astronaut 'moonwalks' on Bengaluru potholes

3D artist Badal Nanjundaswamy turned a pothole-ridden road in Bengaluru into the moon's surface in a creative move to highlight the civic issues in the city. To support his initiative, actor Poornachandra Mysore dressed up as an astronaut and 'moonwalked' over the road. The video of the 'moonwalk' soon went viral on social media.

Bengaluru: A video by Bengaluru-based artist Baadal Nanjundaswamy, showing actor Poornachandra Mysore dressed as an astronaut walking on potholes in the city has gone viral on social media.

In the minute-long video, the actor can be seen carefully walking on the Tunganagar Main Road, as if he is moonwalking on the lunar surface. After the video zooms out, one can see the pothole-ridden Bengaluru street.

"Hello BBMP Commissioner," Nanjundaswamy captioned the video, which soon went viral across social media platforms.

"ISRO can train their astronauts in these roads so that we have a successful Moon mission in 2022," a Twitter user commented on the video.

"Nice initiative to make the government work," wrote another user.

The video has collected over 11,700 shares and more than 6,500 reactions on Facebook. On Twitter, it has gained more than 17,000 views and around 900 re-tweets.

"Chandrayaan has mistakenly landed in Bengaluru by mistaking it for Moon as the craters resemble those on Moon," tweeted one user.

This is not the first time Nanjundaswamy has used his creativity to convey his message. In June, he placed a life-sized crocodile in the middle of a street in Bengaluru which drew the attention of the local authorities. In 2018, he had drawn a cobweb around a pothole to make the authorities take notice.

This one was better than an UFO sighting for the residents of Tunganagar, Vishwaneedam and other areas at Herohalli ward in Banglore. The citizens of this area found an astronaut walking on Tunganagar Main Road that had turned into a moon surface.  The 3D artist Badal Nanjundaswamy, an artist known for highlighting infrastructure-related problems in the city shooted video of the damaged road like moon surface.



There is many pothole-ridden roads in the city. but the condition of this road is quite shocking. So Nanjundswamy used the pothole-punctured road as canvas and turned it into a moon surface. Actor Poornachandra Mysore dress up like an astronaut and walk over it. This was another Nanjundaswamy public installation. Nanjundswamy has created more than 25 installations. all based on civic issues, and to highlight the pothole-punctured roads in the city.
