Hanagal (Karnataka): Often faced with severe criticism and backlash, inter-caste marriage pauses trouble to lovers. Intriguingly, Ningappa Kalera, an elderly, has been the reliance for lovers of different castes. Till now, he has supported 200 inter-caste marriages for twenty years.
When faced with troubles, lovers contact Ningappa. Even though he got entangled in many cases for arranging inter-caste marriages, he remains undeterred in his mission. People often spot him in Courts and government offices.
The benevolent, courageous man is not a product of the normal education system, but, he has earned a doctorate for his social work.
Hailing from Bidarakoppa village, he has devoted his life to social service. He had bestowed his land for school in his village. As an appreciation for his efforts, he has received 19 awards including state and national awards.
