Mangaluru: A locomotive hauling a goods train derailed near New Mangalore Port area when the train was moving out of the Panambur Yard on Friday afternoon. The train was carrying palm oil load from the port when the mishap occurred.
The locomotive derailed before the interchange point of NMPT area and Southern Railway's jurisdiction and the locomotive completely came off the track, according to sources.
The goods train with 42 wagons of palm oil was heading towards Lucknow from the port and the rerailment of the locomotive to be taken up after the Accident Relief Train of Southern Railway reached the spot. There was no proposed movement of other goods trains on the route, the sources added.
