Bengaluru: In an initiative aimed at spreading awareness on the importance of the public property, the KSRTC has placed on display a bus which was burnt by miscreants during the recent protests against the arrest of Karnataka Congress leader D K Shivakumar.
According to reports, strikes and bandhs have cost more than Rs 20 crore for Karnataka Road Transport Corporation Limited in the last three years apart from the Rs 78 lakh loss due to the burning of buses or stone-pelting.
The bus with half of its frame charred and its seats turned to ashes, has been put on display at Kempegowda Bus Station in Majestic calls with messages calling upon the public not to damage public property.
The KSRTC on Tuesday night suspended its route service through Ramanagara and Kanakapura towns in the state's southern region after miscreants stoned and damaged four buses in protest against the arrest of Congress legislator D.K. Shivakumar by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Hundreds of party cadres and supporters of Shivakumar staged angry protests and blocked the vehicular traffic on the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru state highway and condemned the ruling BJP in the state and at the Centre for the alleged misuse of the investigation agencies against the opposition leaders.
