Koppal (Karnataka): An old woman in the Beeraladinni village of Yelburga Taluk in the Koppal district has been living in a small dilapidated hut along with her two children. Their house was damaged in last year's torrential rains, except for the toilet which the family has been using as storage space.

Lakshmawwa and Honnanagouda have three children, of which one is married and living elsewhere. The other two - Honnappa and Kanakappa - were working at a borewell drilling agency five years ago. Both have been suffering from depression for some time and are unable to work. Thus, Lakshmavva has to work to look after her family.

With no income to repair their house and no help from the government, the family has been forced to live in a hut which is exposed to the nature's vagaries. The family has now asked the local administration for help in rebuilding their house.
