Mangaluru: "We have not spared Gandhi. Will we spare you?" All India Hindu Mahasabha State General Secretary Dharmendra challenged the ruling BJP in Karnataka. Dharmendra addressed the media at Mangaluru on Nanjangud temple demolition.
On Sept. 8, the Mysuru district administration razed down the Adishakti Mahadevamma temple in Huchchagani village in Nanjangud. According to the officials, it was one of the 6,395 unauthorized structures identified by the state government in the 2009 - 10 exercise and were to be demolished as directed by the Supreme Court. After the demolition, a political slugfest is underway in Karnataka with opposition Congress and JD (S) accusing the ruling BJP government of hurting religious sentiments.
Addressing the press conference at Mangaluru, Dharmendra said the temples have been demolished to woo the voters from Christian and Muslim communities. He challenged BJP if they are brave enough to demolish the structures like mosques and churches.
It is no use complaining to the authorities about the demolition of the temple. The temple was demolished as per the instructions of politicians and the government. The politicians are assuring to rebuild the temple. "Build the temple by selling off the assets of demolishers. Not from the government or department funds", he rued.
“We have not spared Gandhi. Will we spare you? BJP is a spineless government. We will teach them a lesson in the next elections," Dharmendra stated.
