Karnataka teen seeks financial aid for mother's treatment

Chennabasu, a 15-year-old boy, has been seeking financial aid to pay for his mother, Dhanalakshmi's operation. His mother was set ablaze by his father Shivalingayaswamy, who later committed suicide.

Kalaburgi: In a heartrending incident, a 15-year-old boy was seen pleading with people for financial help as he struggles to save his mother, who was allegedly burnt by his father five months ago.

Shivalingayaswamy, Chennabasu's father, had allegedly set his wife Dhanalakshmi ablaze and later killed himself, some five months ago. She, who was undergoing treatment at Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bidar, was shifted to Basaveshwara Hospital in Kalaburagi on May 29. Earlier, doctors had advised against a surgery as her blood level was level. Her condition has now been deteriorating. However, the hospital authorities have reportedly told Chennabasu that they will perform the surgery only after a payment of Rs 30,000.

Sources in the knowhow of things said, under various health schemes of the state government, the beneficiary gets financial aid only after the surgery is conducted.

Left with no option, Chennabasu began seeking help from passersby. "If we lose our mother, my brother and I will become orphans. Please help me save her," he said.
