Former aeronautical engineer Babu Rajasekaran quit his high paying job and turned into a full-time farmer. After four months of hard-work, overcoming numerous challenges along the way, he now earns a hefty sum for every crop. Rajasekaran's drive is coming off at a time when India's agriculture sector is facing a crisis as farmers are now moving away from farming.

Mysuru: Babu Rajasekaran, an aeronautical engineer by profession, has now turned into a full-time farmer. The Mysuru resident has transformed the backyard of his house in a remote village into a beautiful organic strawberry farm.

The five-acre Heartberry farm is nestled inside a patch of Shola forest and is blessed with natural streams and artificial ponds.

According to Rajasekaran, love for plants drove him towards farming and compelled him to quit his high paying techie job.

Further, the organic farm filled with strawberries remains pristine without any intense use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides.

The farm was built after 1,600 strawberry plants were brought in from the north. After four months of hard-work, overcoming numerous challenges along the way, he now earns a hefty sum for every crop.

Precision agriculture combined with organic farming methods is proving to be a game-changer for this strawberry farmer.

Precision agriculture is the application of precise and correct amount of inputs like water, fertiliser, pesticides, etc., at the correct time to the crop, to increase productivity and maximise yields.
