Karnataka: Six missing as house washes away in landslide in Kodagu

Six persons went missing on Thursday morning after a massive landslide washed away their house in Kodagu district. Heavy monsoon rains in Karnataka caused landslides in the Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts.

Kodagu: At least six people were reported missing on Thursday after their house was washed away in a massive landslide that hit Brahmagiri mountain at Talakaveri in Karnataka's Kodagu district on Thursday.

Out of these, four members of the Talakaveri temple priest family, who were residing at the spot where the landslide occurred are missing informed, Annies Kanmani Joy, Kodagu DC.

As per reports, the advance rescue team was rushed to the incident site.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Thursday directed the district in-charge ministers to take appropriate precautions in the face of increasing rainfall across the state.

The Chief Minister has also instructed district in-charge ministers not to leave the constituency MLAs and officials and visit instructed to visit affected areas.

On Wednesday, Yediyurappa asked the state chief secretary to take necessary steps in view of the rising rainfall in the state and gave instructions for releasing Rs 50 crore for emergencies.
