Bengaluru: A man from Udupi district in Karnataka was arrested for allegedly giving triple talaq to his wife in a Facebook post, police said on Sunday.
The man was identified as Sheikh Mohammed Salim (38) from Shirwa village of Udupi district.
Further, a case has been registered under the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act-2019 which prohibits divorce by pronouncing talaq.

Police said, he married a woman in 2010 and later shifted to Dammam, Saudi Arabia with his wife and daughter. However, on August 3, Salim left his wife and daughter in Dammam and came to Mumbai with another woman.
Later, the wife filed a complaint against Salim claiming that he had pronounced triple talaq in a Facebook post.
After the accused came to Shirwa from Mumbai, police arrested him on August 7 and produced him before a court Bengaluru. Further, the court sent the accused to judicial custody till August 21.
