Gulbarga: As part of a bizarre superstition, disabled children of the Tajastanpura in the Gulbarga district here are buried in sandpits with only their head out during solar eclipses.
The people in this village believe that burying their children into sand pits could cure their disability. Unaware and careless about the possible consequences, parents willingly bury their kids.
Three children have so far been buried in the hope of curing them.
Most of the people in northern Karnataka continue to believe in this superstition.
People have made efforts at making these villagers understand the difference between faith and blind faith but they continue to follow their age-old superstitions.
