Bengaluru (Karnataka): In a rare instance of two political leaders from the same party quarrelling in the open, Karnataka Minister Narayana Gowda and BJP MLA Belli Prakash had a tense face-off in the State Assembly premises on Monday.
According to reports, the Kadur MLA picked up an argument with state municipality minister Narayana Gowda over the matter of developmental works and other grants for his constituency at the canteen of the Vidhana Soudha.
"Without carrying out developmental work in the constituency, how is it possible for you to be a minister?" Prakash allegedly shouted at Gowda, following which the latter asked him to come to his office to discuss the matter.
However, an outraged Belli Prakash allegedly used vulgar language against the minister and was on the verge of attacking him.
After noticing the argument, many leaders, both from the ruling BJP and opposition Congress stepped in. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, former minister Krishna Byre Gowda, along with BJP's Sunil Kumar, KS Eshwarappa, Basanagowda Patil Yatnal, and CT Ravi among others intervened and doused the situation.
Following the incident, while Belli Prakash did not react, Narayan Gowda too sat in the canteen for some time before leaving to attend the Assembly session.
