Bengaluru: Aggravating concerns over Covid cases, 60 students of Sri Chaitanya Girls' Residential School in Bengaluru have tested positive for Covid-19 and the school has been sealed by district authorities. Two were found to be symptomatic among the Covid positive patients.
It should be noted that the Basavaraj Bommai government has been gearing up to resume primary classes soon. The Covid cases reported among students have led to concerns for the Karnataka Health and Education department.
J. Manjunath, Bengaluru Urban District Commissioner said the students tested positive on September 26. As one of the students exhibited Covid symptoms, 480 students underwent Covid tests. The 46 students belong to different districts of Karnataka while 14 students are from Tamil Nadu.
Karnataka reported 629 new COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths and 782 recoveries on September 28, as per the state's health department. There are 12,634 active cases so far and the cumulative cases escalated to 29,74,528. 37,763 people succumbed to Covid while 29,24,102 is the recovery tally.
