Kolara (Karnataka): The two Forest Department officials who got critically injured in a wild elephant attack have succumbed to injuries on Monday at a private hospital in Kolara district on Monday.
The deceased named Guttamuniyappa and Murthy was injured during the incident which took place near the Nootave village in Mallur taluk of the district on Sunday evening.
They were later rescued and rushed to a private hospital where they died while undergoing treatment.
According to locals, "elephant attacks across the region have increased in the last one month. Apart from damaging crops worth thousands of rupees, these attacks have also claimed the lives of many."
The forest department personnel are putting all possible efforts to drive the wild animals out of the village to avoid further loss of life and property.
