Bengaluru: A dual session of the State Legislature will be held from tomorrow till February 5. The seven-day session will set the stage for a truce between the administration and the opposition.
Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Wala will address the joint session of the assembly tomorrow at 11 am. The official function will take place from Friday.
Opposition parties Congress and JDS are gearing up against the government. The new ministers of ruling BJP will have to face attacks of the opposition party after cabinet expansion and portfolio changes.
Issues such as the economic hardship caused by the Covid-19, problem of drinking water in the coming summer, rise in prices of essential commodities including electricity, petrol and diesel and delays in compensation for the flood will be proposed during the session.

More importantly, farmers' protests against farm laws are likely to be echoed in both Houses. The government has to introduce cow slaughter prohibition act in Vidhana Parishad. The opposition party Congress intends to continue its opposition to the bill.
The pre-scheduled period of the last two sessions has been curtailed due to Covid-19. Now, the joint session will also focus on Chairperson-elect and the Vice-Chairperson elect to Vidhana Parishad.
