Bengaluru: Amid government confirming reports of community-level transmission of COVID-19 in Karnataka, a Janata Dal (Secular) leader threw a pompous birthday party in his village in Ramanagara district.
According to reports, hundreds of villagers and well-wishers attended the event organised by Bidadi MLA, Seshappa.
What is even more appalling is that some guests came all the way from Mysuru and Bengaluru, furthering the risk of infection spread in rural Karnataka.
Besides, Magadi MLA A Manjunath, who recently underwent self-quarantine after one of his personal assistants tested positive was one of the attendees of the function.
Many of the guests were seen flouting COVID-19 rules, including wearing a face mask and maintaining physical distance from one another. Although many carried a face mask with them, the cloth hung loosely over the chin and jaw region.
