Birds including the Bar Headed Goose, the Brahmani Duck, the Black Ibis and the Painted stork have arrived here.

These multicoloured migratory birds come here every winter and stay in Magadi Lake for about three months.

These birds go to the farmers' fields around the lake and feed on peanuts, sunflower and corn. The invading avians are no threat to the farmers as they help in pollination and increase the fertility of the soil by three to four times. Their usefulness far outweighs the damage they do.
