Loaded gun found on Returning Officer in Belgavi

A loaded gun was found on Polling Returning Officer (PRO) who was assigned to election duty in Desura village of Belgavi Taluk.

Suleiman Sanadi arrived with a loaded gun at the election booth after which staff observing this, informed the police.

The police reached the spot and seized the gun and took Suleiman Sanadi into custody. 

Now the PRO has been changed by the Election Commissioner.

Voting for the first phase of gram panchayat elections under way in Karnataka

First phase of Karnataka Gram Panchayat elections underway

Bengaluru: The first phase of Karnataka Gram Panchayat elections are underway in nearly 2,930 panchayats.

Polling started at 7 am and will go on till 5 pm in 23,706 booths.  

Elections will be held in 2,832 panchayats on December 27. 

Counting of votes will take place on December 30.

Nearly 5,000 candidates have been elected unopposed. 

EVMs will be used in Bidar district and ballot papers in the rest of the state.
