Constable held for question paper leak in Karnataka

Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Musthak Kwati Nayak, a police constable in connection with First Division Assistants (FDA) question paper leak case. He received the question paper from one of the accused on Whatsapp, according to the police.

Bengaluru: Musthak Kwati Nayak, a police constable working in the Civil Rights Enforcement Directorate (DAR) Bangalore division, was booked by Central Crime Branch (CCB) police in connection with First Division Assistants (FDA) question paper leak case.

Police arrested him as he received question paper through Whatsapp from accused Sana Bedi. Bedi has been working as a stenographer from the Control Division of the Karnataka Lokasewa Commission.

The duo discussed the issue in Whatsapp and as the case unfolded, Nayak escaped from Haveri. Nayak was working in Agadi village in Haveri district. He was interrogated by CCB.

Earlier, CCB arrested 14 people, including a person who claimed to be a commercial taxes inspector and seized Rs 35 lakhs, electronic gadgets and three vehicles from him. Police identified the accused Rachappa and Chandrappa, and their aides Mahesh, Santosh, Srinivas and Nikith.

Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa had warned any official of the Karnataka Public Service Commission found guilty would be sacked. The CCB sleuths also recovered copies of the question papers, Rs 24 lakh in cash and three vehicles from the two kingpins in a raid conducted on their premises on January 23. The KPSC informed the candidates through SMS that the exams on January 24 were cancelled and would be held at a later date.
