Belgaum (Karnataka) A farmer on Tuesday has committed suicide by jumping into an open borewell in the outskirts of Rayabhag town in Karnataka's Belgaum district.
The 38-year-old farmer named Lakkappa Sangappa Doddamani of Sultanpur village has jumped into the open borewell and his body stuck into it, villagers said.
According to the villagers, last week Lakkappa dug the borewell but the water did not come as he expected which led to his depression and he has committed suicide, villagers claimed.
Lakkappa came to his farm in the next morning and his clothes were left near to the open borewell, villagers said.
By seeing his clothes, villagers suspected that he might have jumped into the borewell and they informed the police about the whole incident.
Later in the evening, the police officials visited the spot and recovered the dead body from the borewell.
