Chitradurga (Karnataka): Following a struggle of four long months, an elderly man from Karnataka's Chitradurga finally received his due pension.
Pennappa, a resident of Mahadevapura village in Challakere Taluk, who has issue walking, had no other option but to crawl to the post office daily for the past four months.
However, authorities would turn him away every single time, saying that the pension money was yet to arrive.
In an emotional video, Pennappa narrated his plight, which was carried by ETV Bharat.
Following ETV Bharat's report, the taluk panchayat executive officer (EO) Sridhara Barikere arrived at Pennappa's doorstep and personally delivered the elderly man's pension.
In another case from Karnataka, an elderly woman, who had been living in a tiny 4.5 sq ft hut for the past 20 years in Kalaburagi, received help after ETV Bharat reported about her plight.
Following the report, local MLA Narasinha Nayaka contacted ETV Bharat and assured to make a house for the elderly woman. Perceiving the condition of the woman, the MLA also provided a food kit to the 60-year-old woman.
