Mandya: 8 members of two families consume poison over property dispute, one dies

The Srinivas and Marankaiah families from Kokkare Bellur village of Maddur Taluk have been fighting over property. After the fight, eight members from both the families consumed poison from which one died and two are serious.

Mandya: Eight members from two families in Mandya consumed poison on Wednesday allegedly over a property dispute. One of the members died and two are reportedly in serious condition.

The Srinivas and Marankaiah families from Kokkare Bellur village of Maddur Taluk have been fighting over land. After the fight when the Shaila, 35, consumed poison, another family panicked and they also consumed poison.

All the eight were to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), however, Shaila died.

Prema, Narayan, Thimmamma, Uttarappa, Kariyappa, Siddesh and Jayamma who also consumed poisoned during the incident are being treated at the Maddur Public Hospital.

A case has been registered at Maddur police station and senior officers have arrived at the spot to investigate the matter.
