Bengaluru: Crematoriums have been running out of space due to the rapid surge in the number of deaths caused due to COVID-19. In a similar incident, a crematorium in Bengaluru, which ran out of space, put up a 'House Full' board at the gate.
A total of 45 bodies arrived at the TR Mill crematorium in Chamrajpet on Sunday. However, the crematorium could bury only 20 bodies at a time. By then, the crematorium had already received bookings for 19 cremations. Realizing that staff will not be able to cremate any more bodies for the day, the crematorium put up a 'house full' board at the gate.

Relatives of the deceased, running from one crematorium to the other, in order to give their loved ones a respectable funeral, is a common sight.
Several incidents of ambulances carrying bodies forming a beeline near crematoriums were reported across Bengaluru. On Monday, 11 ambulances were seen queued up at the SRS crematorium in Peenya. Relatives of the deceased are compelled to wait for several hours to conduct the last rites. The crematorium in charge said it receives around 40 bodies a day on an average.
