Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday cleared the air over the controversy surrounding the Class 10 board exams saying the decision to conduct the exams was taken after thorough discussions. His clarification comes after Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar had on Monday announced that the SSLC board exams will be held in July but Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Sudhakar said he was not aware of the decision.

Kumar, however, said he had taken the decision in consultation with the chief minister. This decision has been taken in the interest of students, after thorough discussions, and it is not a unilateral decision. It is unnecessary to create confusion in this regard," Yediyurappa tweeted. After the tweet Dr Sudhakar changed his stance and said the education minister has discussed with experts before taking the call and Yediyurappa was also informed.

Education Minister Kumar, for his part, said the decision to hold exams was arrived at only after the health department officials had given them standard operating procedures to be followed during the exams.
