Decision on Karnataka lockdown likely on Monday

The Karnataka state cabinet is likely to take a decision on imposing lockdown-like restrictions in the state on all days of the week, on Monday.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka state cabinet is likely to take a decision on imposing lockdown-like restrictions in the state on Monday.

The meeting, which will be chaired by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, is scheduled to meet at 11 am on Monday.

In Karnataka, weekend curfew restrictions will be in place till May 4.

Speaking to reporters in Dharwad, Minister of Large and Medium Scale Industries Jagadish Shettar, said, "We are not in favour of a lockdown. But the situation is such that we have to impose restrictions to bring things under control...we have to break the chain, it is a matter of 10-12 days, let's see... once the numbers (cases) come down, restrictions will also reduce," he said.
