Bengaluru: A 63-year-old COVID-19 positive patient died after collapsing on the road near his house at Hanumantha Nagar in south Bengaluru on Friday. The body of the man lay there for three hours before an ambulance could reach to pick him up.
Reportedly, the deceased had developed breathing issues. So he had asked the ambulance to pick him up nearby his house.
"As he was on his way, he collapsed all of a sudden and died on the road," his wife alleged.
"After nearly three hours, the ambulance arrived and removed his body. Till then, the body lay there drenched in the rain," she added.
Neither any relative nor his neighbours came forward to shift the body because of the fear of getting infected with the virus.
Meanwhile, Civic Commissioner Anil Kumar has assured of taking stern action against whoever is found guilty of the lapse. He also ordered an inquiry into the delay.
