Bengaluru: A special court has ordered the custody of Bineesh Kodiyeri, the son of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, who was arrested on charges of financial transactions with Mohammed Anoop, in the Bangalore drug case.
The court gave him into the ED's custody again for five days. After the custody ended, ED officials presented the case to the Special Court of Enforcement Directorate in the city's civil court premises.
The special prosecutor for the ED P Prasanna Kumar told the court that Bineesh should be further investigated. The prosecutor added that he did not cooperate with the investigation complaining of illness.
Besides, there are more than 10 criminal cases registered against accused Bineesh in Kerala. A case has been registered against him in Dubai. There is also an accusation that he transported about 3.5 crores of money through the hawala networks. Bineesh allegedly founded two Benami organizations to run his hawala transactions. The main accused in the drug case Mohammed Anoop has also accused Bineesh of drugging him.
Although Bineesh's counsels objected other accusations, the court granted his custody to the ED.
Bineesh Kodiyeri was arrested on October 29 in a money laundering case.
