Congress wants to make Karnataka ATM for its royal family: PM Modi

PM Modi while addressing a rally in Mulki said that the BJP wants Karnataka to become No.1 in industrial and agri development, fisheries and port adding the Centre was working on the project.

Mulki (Karnataka): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the Congress of using Karnataka as “ATM for its 'Shahi Parivar' (royal family) sitting in Delhi”. Addressing a BJP campaign rally in Karnataka's Mulki ahead of the upcoming assembly election, Modi said that the BJP wants Karnataka to become No.1 in industrial and agri development, fisheries and port adding the Centre was working on the project.

“Congress wants to make Karnataka No.1 ATM for its 'Shahi Parivar' (royal family) sitting in Delhi,” PM Modi said at the election rally in Mulki. PM Modi said that the politics of the party is based on "divide and rule" policy adding the party was going across the world "defaming the country, when India's democracy and development is being appreciated and respected globally".

He further said that the Congress was an "enemy of peace and development" and accused the party of insulting and abusing India's defence forces. "When Congress is there, investors will flee. Congress protects 'aakas' (boss) of terror, they encourage appeasement," Modi said. He further said that “if there is instability in Karnataka, your (people's) future will also be unstable”.

The PM accused the Congress of being “an enemy of peace and development” adding “appeasement policy is the party's identity”. “Congress's entire politics is based on 'divide and rule' policy,” PM Modi said. The PM also addressed a rally in Mudbiri where he said that the BJP's vision is to “make Karnataka the growth engine of India”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a whirlwind tour of Karnataka to campaign for the BJP for the upcoming assembly elections. The assembly election in the state is scheduled on May 10 while counting of votes will be held on May 13. Addressing a BJP campaign rally in Chitradurga on Tuesday, PM Modi alleged that Congress' “history is about "appeasing terror and terrorists", adding that the party had “questioned the country's defence forces, when the surgical strikes and air strikes had been carried out”.

The PM also accused the Congress and JD(S) of "encouraging terror”. The BJP Karnataka BJP is banking on PM Modi to boost its election campaign.
