Dakshina Kannada: After the relaxation in lockdown from June 1, private buses have started operating in many places including in Karnataka's dakshina Kannada district.
To avoid the spread of coronavirus infection, private bus owners have provided conductors with PPE kit.
A conductor of the route no. 6 city bus operating on the State Bank-Shaktinagar route was seen in the PPE kit.
"Before wearing PPE kits, we were afraid to work on the bus as we interact with every passenger. Now our employer has given us the PPE kits and we are feeling more assured," told Sayisha, the bus conductor.
A few crew of the other city buses in Mangaluru were also seen in personal protective equipment kits while discharging their duties.
This move is welcomed because many city buses are finding it difficult to ensure social distancing.
