Mandya: As the political fever grips the entire country, the tea benches are becoming more vibrant with people delving deep into the political discussions with enthusiasm. With a steaming hot cup of tea, people enjoy participating and airing their political views.
However, there are times when these discussions lead to heated arguments with people aggressively defending their political heroes and forcibly making their predictions.
To prevent the humble outlet from turning into a hotspot, a tea shop in Karnataka's Mandya has put a ban on political talks in the shop.
The owner of the Vadiraja tea shop in Ashoka town of Mandya has pasted notice in his shop forbidding his customers from indulging into any sorts of political debates or discussions.
The owner said that he has taken this step considering the sensitive situation boiling up in Mandya ahead of the elections.
"I have observed that most people drink half their tea and then indulge in unnecessary discussions which becomes a cause of controversy. These customers, particularly elderly persons, start animated discussions and on many occasions, heated arguments can be heard as people forcefully make predictions and impose their political ideology over others," he says.
Interestingly, Mandya has become a high-stakes battle in Karnataka as Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy's son Nikhil Kumaraswamy is pitted against Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of late actor-turned-politician Ambareesh.
