Black fungus death toll crosses 100 in Karnataka

Karnataka has logged 1,784 Black Fungus cases so far in which 62 were cured and 111 patients died. The central government has allocated 9,750 vials of Amphotericin - B to the state for the treatment.

Bengaluru: As many as 1,784 Black Fungus cases have been found in the state so far. Of these, 62 were cured and 111 patients died.

Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar has presented this information. A total of 1,784 cases have been reported across the state. Of these, 1,564 are being treated. An infected person needs at least 2 to 3 weeks of treatment. It takes about 5 to 6 weeks for complete recovery, he said.

Amphotericin-B drug is used to treat black fungal infection. The central government has allocated 9,750 vials to the state. Of these, 8,860 arrived on Friday. The state received a total of 18,650 vials. The report said that 8,860 vials were used for government hospitals and 9,740 vials for private hospitals.

On the vaccination front, 58 lakh doses of Covid vaccine will be given to the state. Approximately 70 to 75 lakh people will be vaccinated in the same month.

One and a half crore people have been vaccinated in the state till now. And, 2.25 crore people will be vaccinated by the end of June. Everyone would get the vaccine as soon as possible, Minister said.
