Bengaluru: The Karnataka police on Sunday detained two bikers who allegedly followed Union Home Minister Amit Shah's convoy when he was on his way back from his visit to poll-bound Karnataka. According to police, both the youths have been taken into custody and are being interrogated in connection with obstructing VIP traffic.
Shah was heading to HAL airport from the Taj West End Hotel in Bengaluru at around 11 pm when two youths on a bike came around 300 meters behind the Home Minister's convoy. They followed the convoy from Shafina Plaza to Manipal Centre until Bharatinagar police intervened and detained the duo.

Bengaluru's Commercial Street police arrested the duo and booked them under Section 353 of the IPC for obstruction of government duty and reckless driving under Section 279. Police said further investigation is going on. Shah visited Bengaluru to hold a meeting with Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, former CM BS Yeddyurappa, BJP national general secretary BL Santosh and other senior BJP leaders.
During his visit, Shah praised Bommai and his predecessor Yedurappa for the development of the state adding that Karnataka has witnessed commendable governance under the reigns of the two Chief Ministers. Shah, subsequently, urged the people of the state to vote for the BJP to ensure a full majority for the party in the upcoming polls.
Earlier this month, Shah's security was allegedly breached during his visit to Agartala where he attended the swearing-in of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. A white car was found following his convoy after he left Agartala's state guest house. When police tried to stop the car, it sped past the convoy.
