Bengaluru: The 42-year-old woman who was seriously injured when KSRTC ran on her leg when she fell down from her scooter while trying to avoid a pothole died in the hospital on Tuesday. Her daughter is seriously injured and undergoing treatment. The deceased is identified as Uma, a resident of Vasanthanagar, Bengaluru city.
Uma got fatally injured in the mishap that took place when she along with her daughter, Vanitha, was riding a scooter near Sujata Theater. At this time, they tried to avoid bumping into a pothole when Uma fell off the scooter onto the road. During that time KSRTC bus which was coming from behind ran over over Uma's leg while also injuring her daughter.
As Uma's leg was crushed under the wheel of the bus and was bleeding, local public rushed her to hospital. She was immediately admitted to the hospital, but to no use. Uma died while receiving treatment. The treatment of daughter Vanitha is continuing. In connection with the incident, the Malleshwar traffic police have taken the bus driver into custody and continuing further investigation.
It is alleged that had the civic authorities repaired the pothole, the mishap would not have taken place. Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommayi said that he has instructed the police department to submit a comprehensive report on this incident. Speaking to reporters, CM said that he has instructed the police officers to submit a report on the accident. Action will be taken after receiving the preliminary report. He said that he will take action against the culprits as soon as he returns from his visit to Bidar.
