Bengaluru (Karnataka): With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the state and especially the capital city here, the number of deaths has also alarmed in recent days.
Meanwhile, the people who have been carrying out the funeral services of the COVID positive deceased patients, have been quite conscious of the spread of the disease as well. They have been throwing away the Personal protective equipment (PPE) kits used by them during the funeral service at the cemetery itself. This has created a sense of fear in the neighbourhood.
The commencement of the monsoon season in the state is also the reason for the panic, as the locals believe that the spread of the virus is more prone amid the monsoon wind. Following which, they also complained to the police.
The police had given strict warnings to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palik (BBMP) for the safe disposal of the PPE kits and measures to adhere for the safety of the locals, even then allegedly no care has been taken by the corporators. The police then decided to burn the used PPE kits by themselves for the safety of the nearby residents.
