Bengaluru: In an alleged case of dowry harassment, the Bengaluru police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly torturing his wife.
The accused was identified as Suraj Singh who resided at TC Palya in Ramamurthy Nagar. He had married the victim about a year ago.
According to the police, the victim's refusal to accept Suraj's demand for a new residential property infuriated him.
Following the disagreement over dowry, Suraj along with his parents allegedly burnt her from the waist down.
The victim was admitted to a hospital with severe burn injuries to her abdomen, genital region and limbs.
According to the police, Suraj has been harassing the victim over dowry for a long time.
Suraj's parents were also taken into police custody. The police has launched an investigation into the incident.
