Several home deaths in Bengaluru not linked to Covid: Report

An audit shows about 410 deaths out of 910 people in Bengaluru homes between March and June this year did not have symptoms of Covid-19.

Bengaluru: An audit has been conducted by Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on the deaths of residents in Bengaluru in home isolation. ETV Bharat had accessed the report. The report said from March 1 to June 15, 910 people died in home isolation in the city. It also said 410 people out of the 910, died in 46 days and they did not have clear symptoms of Covid-19.

The report also revealed - of the 910 deaths, 500 people died in home isolation from other diseases and 333 deaths were caused by delays in accessing hospitals or doctors. It also showed 475 patients died after they were turned back by hospitals and 365 deaths attributed to lack of critical care, ICU and ventilators. The report concludes, altogether 0.16 per cent of people died in home isolation.

  • 21 to 40 years - 98 people
  • 33 and above - 80 people
  • 41 to 60 years - 272 people
  • 60 to 80 years - 506 people

Gender and number of deaths

  • Men - 602
  • Women - 308
