Bengaluru (Karnataka): One of the suspects arrested for allegedly raping and torturing a woman who was trafficked from Bangladesh was shot and injured by police in Benglauru while he tried to escape.
The case came to light after a video of the woman being tortured went viral.
Shobuz, a Bangladeshi resident, was arrested at the Shrirampur paper collectors shed. On the way to the police station, he tried to escape on the pretext of taking a loo break.
According to reports, he was shot and injured when he attacked head constable Devende Nayak and a sub inspector.

On Saturday police arrested six suspects including two women.
The video was viral in the northeastern states of India and Bangladesh. The incident came to light after Assam police launched a probe and posted screenshots of the accused from the video. Bangladesh police later found the family members of the victim and coordinated with the Bengaluru police.

The victim was trafficked to Bengaluru from where she managed to escape to Kerala. The arrested suspects found her and raped her as a punishment for escaping.
Police found the victim in Kerala's Calicut while the absconding accused were nabbed in Bengaluru on Thursday.
