Mangaluru: A group of people, allegedly Bajrang Dal activists, disrupted a party conducted by college students at a pub in the city Monday night, police sources said. The activists barged into the pub alleging that drunk undergraduate students were indulging in indecent behaviour in the name of a farewell party.

The Mangalore City Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar visited the pub on Tuesday and conducted an investigation. The police commissioner said that around 5 to 6 men came to the pub and questioned bouncer Dinesh about supplying liquor to minors following which he asked for their ID proof to ascertain their age.

According to rules, it is not permitted to serve alcohol to those below the age of 21 years. After checking the students said that they are third-year graduates and so they can drink. The police commissioner said that it will be checked if minors were drinking illegally.

According to the bouncer's information, there was no attack in the pub. Some members of an organization came to the pub to ask for some information, the bouncer informed the police. CCTV footage of the pub is being scrutinized, the police commissioner said.

"We will collect information from the students as well and we will take action on them later on. No one from outside is allowed to check on the customers," he said. As soon as information came to light about activists barging into the pub, police officials visited and took action to prevent any untoward incident, the Police Commissioner added.

"We got informed that alcohol is being served to minors at some places is regularly reviewed," police sources said. These students are not related to the students in the kissing case, police said adding that reports that the party was held since students from the kissing case were going to custody is not true.
