300 cars gutted in fire at parking lot in Aero show

At least 300 cars were gutted in a fire mishap at the open field parking lot in Gate number 5 of the Aero India 2019 show in Bengaluru today. No casualties were reported. The show concludes tomorrow.

Bengaluru: At least 300 cars were gutted in a fire mishap at the open field parking lot near Gate 5 of AeroIndia 2019 in Bengaluru on Saturday. The fire was caught near AFS Yelahanka Gurudwara near Bharati Nagar Gate.

No casualties have been reported.

Fire fighting operations have been completed. About 10 fire force and five fire engines were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.

M N Reddi, DGP fire services said that dry grass along with heavy winds could be the cause of the fire.

A blanket of thick black smoke engulfed the area causing panic among locals and those visiting Aero India on its fourth day.

The five-day Aero India 2019 show will conclude on Sunday.

Fire erupts at parking lot of Aero India show, 100 cars gutted
         Bengaluru, Feb 23 (PTI) A major fire broke out Saturday at the parking area of the Yelahanka Air Force station, where the 12th edition of Aero India is underway, official sources said here.
         No casualties were reported, they said.
         "#AeroShowOpenParkingAreaFire Totally about 100 cars burnt in the fire. Fire spread is controlled by creating a gap by removing adjacent cars. Fire under control now. No injuries or any harm to people reported.Likely cause: dry grass fire aided by heavy winds," DGP Fire Services M N Reddi said in a tweet.

         On Tuesday, a day before the opening of the Aero India show, two aircraft of the IAF's aerobatic team Surya Kiran had crashed, after grazing each other mid-air, near here.
