Tumakuru (Karnataka): As many as 13 people were killed and five others sustained grievous injuries in a road mishap after a car collided with an SUV on NH 75 at Kunigal thaluk of Tumakuru district of Karnataka in the wee hours of Friday.
The deceased persons have been identified as Lakshmikant, Sandeep, Madhu, Manjunatha, Sundar raj, Sarala, Rajendra, Ratnamma, Gouramma, Trishanya, Tanuja, Malayashri, Chetana.
According to sources, among the dead, 10 were from Tamil Nadu and three from Bengaluru. All of them were pilgrims who were on their way to Dharmasthala in Karnataka.
There were five women and two children among the dead. The mishap took place at around 2 am on Friday when the car collided head-on with the SUV.

While 12 died on the spot, a child breathed his last in a hospital. The injured were admitted to the hospital, sources said.
On being informed, a police team led by Tumakuru Superintendent of Police (SP) K Vamsi Krishna reached the spot and recovered the bodies out from the mangled vehicles, sources added.
